    Description:

    Job Summary: Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, and center property. Serves as the Centers designated Safety and Occupational Health Officer. Ensures proper screening of staff, students, and visitors entering and exiting the site. Responsible the Center Occupational Health and Safety program.


    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Adheres to the Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) and Career Systems Development (CSD) policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
    • Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
    • Employee provides, and ensures staff assigned to their supervision provide, services that meet the needs of students in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
    • Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
    • Assists in developing/updating Center Safety & Security Plans and SOP's.
    • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with local law enforcement and Emergency Management Services that serve the Center.
    • Facilitates and assists in the Coordination of required Emergency Drills on the site (tabletop and physical), such as Active Shooter.
    • Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CSD, and Department Of Labor (DOL) standards, including conducting quarterly property counts, and submits maintenance requests as needed.
    • Supervises assigned staff, reviews, and approves requests for time off, and may be required to arrange substitute staff coverage. Reviews for accuracy and approved assigned staff timesheets.
    • Conducts interviews of perspective new employees and makes recommendations for, or against hire, based of State and Federal laws, and company policy.
    • Assists in preparing staff schedule and weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as assigned.
    • Patrols assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
    • Receives student complaints, investigates student complaints, and documents facts incident reports, investigation summary reports.
    • Establishes and communicates safety, security, and fire prevention policies with pertinent center and PRH regulations to students and staff.
    • Attend training as required.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    Minimum: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years broad-based civilian, military security or fire prevention and safety experience, one of which was in a supervisory capacity. OSHA Safety standards background.

    Preferred: Master's degree preferred.

    Knowledge: Knowledge of standard security, fire prevention and safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Must possess a valid State driver's license. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Familiarity of Workers Compensation policies. Familiarity with the problems of underprivileged, minority groups, especially youth. Must obtain and maintain CPR/FA Certification.
