Welcome to the Los Angeles County Encore Program Retiree Registry!
Our program, led by the Department of Human Resources, helps Los Angeles County retirees to be considered for 120-day temporary assignments by connecting them with partner LA County Departments.
When an urgent need for an employee with unique and outstanding skills is identified by departments, they may look to hire a retiree to help address that need temporarily. When departments need assistance identifying retirees with the relevant skills, our program can use the registry to connect departments with potentially qualified and interested retirees.
County Departments can reemploy eligible retirees with these outstanding skills and expertise for up to 120 days without stopping their retirement allowance. During this period, members do not accrue additional LACERA pension benefits and neither the member nor the employer make contributions.
If you are an LA County retiree, have any of the desired skills listed below, and would like to be considered for temporary assignments as they become available, please submit an application and join our Encore Retiree Registry.
Thank you!

This usually occurs when departments require skills and expertise unique to their department or have already identified a retiree ideal for their assignment.
The Registry Process
By applying, we learn about a retiree's expertise and skills and use this information to develop and maintain our registry.
Then, if a County Department wants to hire a retiree temporarily and needs help identifying potential candidates, they can contact our program. The program will find knowledgeable retirees and provide their information to the department.
In some cases, departments may not need our registry to identify retirees best suited for their assignment, however, if departments do require assistance with identifying retirees, the Encore registry is available to provide retiree information. The hiring department can then review candidates and contact the most qualified ones to discuss the assignment and their potential addition to their team.
What to Expect After Applying
After applying, we'll review the application and add you to the registry. Then, when a department has an upcoming urgent need and is considering hiring a retiree, we'll receive their request and provide retiree names to them that fit their needs. The hiring departments are then encouraged to get connected with retirees that possess the skills and experience best suited to perform the assignment.
