    The LA County Board of Supervisors has unanimously ratified a Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to the windstorms and wildfires , including the Palisades and Eaton Fires, that have devastated communities across the County. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to assist the County in mobilizing resources and support needed to help our residents recover and rebuild.     The Los Angeles County Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Communications Services Analyst vacancies related to this unprecedented natural disaster.

    Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

    During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

    Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Communications Services Analyst.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Identifies the need for, and determines operational requirements of, communications services, equipment and systems for operating departments.
    • Assists operating departments in developing requests for ISD communications services, and coordinates and expedites the provision of such services.
    • Acts as liaison between ISD and operating departments to maintain continuity and integrity of communications systems.
    • Participates in planning space allocations for communications equipment.
    • Participates in staff and management meetings on departmental operations and activities.
    • Attends public and private agency meetings which may affect communications requirements and planning activities.
    • Maintains an awareness of developments in the field of communications which may be of use to operating departments.
    • Conducts on-site evaluations to assess communications in support of routine service requests or projects.
    • Manages service requests from inception through completion and coordinates the completion of service evaluations with operating departments.
    • Coordinates the activities of internal and external vendors and clients in support of the operating department's service request or project.
    • Communicates and coordinates with the contracted provider to ensure those needs are being met.
    • Conducts billing investigations from initial inquiry through resolution.
    • Uses spreadsheets to organize data with formulas and functions.
    • May assist with the development and evaluation of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) locations in regard to 911 communications.


    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

    TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
    Option I: Three years of experience interacting with end user organizations in coordinating the planning, design and provisioning of voice and data telecommunications services, equipment and systems to meet client organizations' operational requirements.
    Option II: Three years of experience interacting with end user organizations in conducting virtual and in-person training classes on all features, system programming and reports related, but not limited to, cloud-based voice service, VoIP, interactive voice response, automatic call distribution, PBX, and technology related ISD services.

    You MUST meet the above requirement(s) in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.

    LICENSE :
    A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

    PHYSICAL CLASS :
    Physical Class II -
    Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

    OUT-OF-CLASS EXPERIENCE :

    Out-of-class experience will not be accepted for this recruitment.

    During your initial work period, the appointing department will evaluate your performance. Those who achieve a passing score on this evaluation will be considered for permanent appointment.
