Position OverviewCorrectional Officer I – Incumbents will control and oversee activities of inmates detained within Fresno County detention facilities and perform related work as required. Candidates must be willing to work overtime and shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Fresno County Detention Facilities are “no-hostage” facilities.QualificationsHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent.At least 21 years of age.Valid Class “C” driver's license; may be required to obtain a Class “B” license.Must meet all pre‑employment public officer status requirements under federal, state, and local law.Must successfully complete California Penal Code Section 831.5 training before the end of the 1‑year probationary period.Background VerificationApplicants must undergo a thorough background investigation, polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination, and medical and psychological examinations. Investigation includes employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct.
