Firefighting Team Member
You will operate as an integral member of a firefighting team under direct supervision in hazardous conditions.
You will serve as driver/operator of fire(pumper) apparatus, aerial ladder truck, heavy rescue vehicle, hazardous material truck/trailer, ambulance to and from both emergency and non-emergency situations.
You will extinguish fires, operate hose lines, set and climb ladder and conduct search and rescue operations.
You will hoist tools and equipment using ropes, operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and related equipment.
You will analyze hazardous material incidents to determine the magnitude of the problem and identify special containers involved to identify or classify unknown material.
You will collect and interpret hazards and response information from printed resources, technical resources, computer database and monitoring and testing equipment.
You will response to all medical emergencies as an Emergency Medical Technician and make independent preliminary assessment of the patient's condition and provide basic life support measures.
You will take vital signs, treat for shock, maintain open airways, control bleeding and perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
You will perform inspection duties where moderate to high fire hazards are expected to be encounter, detect and recommend corrective actions to operating officials for moderate to severe hazards.
You will participate as a student in training sessions, formal and practical lectures, computer based training, demonstrations and drills for all phases of fire department operations.
You will wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously.
