The City of Delano is currently hiring on‑call, paid firefighters for the Delano Fire Department. There are multiple openings and this application will stay open until all openings are filled. All initial and ongoing training is provided by the City of Delano.All applicants for Firefighter and all ongoing firefighters in the Delano Fire Department shall meet the following requirements.Must be 18 years of age or older.Must be under the age of 65.Have a high school diploma, or equivalent.Must submit an application into City Hall in the time frame required for appointment.Must fill out the form and pass a BCA background check.Be able to complete the Departments physical agility test annually.Complete an interview.Pass a medical exam.(MINIMUM) Must have or be able to obtain State Firefighter II Certification within the probationary period.(MINIMUM) Must have or be able to obtain First Responder Certification within the probationary period.Must continue to annually meet all requirements to maintain all certifications held by them.Must follow and meet all requirements of the Fire Department Policies, and guidelines to maintain employment eligibility.To maintain status as a Firefighter, all Firefighters shall be required to undergo and pass an annual SCBA medical examination, and a skills and fitness test.If it is a Special Hire must be able to maintain all requirements set‑up at time of appointment/hire to maintain employment eligibility.Firefighter Minimum Physical Standards1.
