Department

The department of Politics, Administration and Justice within the Division of Academic Affairs offers three bachelor programs, two master programs, and six minors, enrolling roughly 2,100 students. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is committed to educating students to be culturally, globally, socially, historically and environmentally astute, civically responsible alumni able to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected world. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Politics, Administration and Justice Administrative Support Coordinator I. Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Division Chair and Administrative Support Coordinator II, the Administrative Support Coordinator I provides comprehensive administrative and graduate program support for the Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice. The position serves as a primary front office point of contact during peak periods, delivering high-quality customer service to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and visitors; supporting division communications and reporting; assisting with event logistics and hospitality; and providing backup timekeeping and student assistant expense reporting as needed. The Administrative Support Coordinator I plays a significant role in graduate program operations by supporting prospective and current graduate students, coordinating application and admissions-related documentation, maintaining student records and program data, issuing permits, and resolving registration issues, coordinating comprehensive exam tracking processes, and assisting with accreditation and employment tracking requirements. In addition, the position supports Unit 11 and student assistant employment processes by preparing and posting job openings, assisting with interviews and hiring documentation, coordinating onboarding and performance evaluation processes, and training and scheduling student assistants. The Administrative Support Coordinator I also maintains the Division’s website and social media presence in compliance with university standards and performs other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective division operations.

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent and two years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work or the equivalent. Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems, and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
