All armed security officers provide services at designated federal buildings/installations.SynopsisFPS Protective Security Officers (PSOs) are primarily responsible for performing security and monitoring work such as securing federal buildings and property, protecting personnel, equipment and material, and controlling access to work locations by employees and visitors. The PSO will respond to emergencies, conduct inspections and perimeter checks, and access control.Licensing RequirementsAll applicants must maintain certification as a security guard through the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services through the state of California. These certifications include Security Guard Registration, Firearms Permit, and Baton Permit (issued by the State of California).Be a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard).Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual's name and social security number.Have verifiable documentation of one experience and one education level listed below:ExperienceA minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) or one (1) year oflaw enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-servicepolice department in a municipality, state, or federal lawenforcement department within the US, and have resigned orretired in good standing; orA minimum of two (2) years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard) component; orEducationReceived, at minimum, either a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution of higher learning, or as identified on DD Form 214 .Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.Age RequirementsMust be 21 years of age.Job RequirementsClean background check (no felonies or domestic violence/assault charges).U.S. Citizen / hold a social security card.Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English.Pass a Medical Evaluation (to be paid for by the company).Drug Screen (to be paid for by the company).The company will assist in the processing of the federal background clearance.Certification RequirementsCalifornia State Security Guard Registration.Valid Driver's License.CPR/First Aid/AED (training provided by the company).Training RequirementsAll applicants must be 100% trained in both classroom and range/weapons prior to standing post. The government requires that all applicants attend:1 week of classroom training and 1 week of range training, followed by 2 days of x-ray/screening training.
