Position Summary:
Responsible for providing comprehensive care for critically ill patients in the CCU/CVCU, ICU, MICU, and SICU units, working within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest level of patient care, ensuring program adherence to evidence-based medical standards, quality initiatives, and reliable execution of intended ICU daily processes.
Job Requirement
Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine and three (3) years of critical care practice experience. Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid License by State of Nevada to practice medicine. State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications and DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Additional Position Requirements
Currently credentialed through UMC Medical Staff Services as a Provider, with credentialed subspecialties in Pulmonary Medicine/Respiratory.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Knowledge of:
Adult and pediatric care, equipment, supplies and practices; federal, state, local and accreditation laws, regulations and standards; related outside agencies, their services, roles and responsibilities to contact them to appropriate needed information for patient referrals; principles and practices of medical care; quality assurance and performance improvement principles and methods; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.
Skill in:
Effective provision of medical care; assessing and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of medical care provided through the use of hospital QI program; ensuring that services are appropriate for meeting patients medical, social and emotional needs, consistent with sound health care resource allocation practices; developing goals, objectives, policies and procedures; applying leadership techniques; supervising Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners; making effective decisions under stress and emergency circumstances; developing care plans; solving problems; communicating with a wide variety people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. UMC pays the full contribution (28%) of your base pay each pay period into the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS).

Consolidated Annual Leave (Paid Time Off)
27 days of paid time off per year! Full- and part-time employees begin accruing CAL time immediately based on the number of hours worked. CAL time is used for vacation, holidays, sick and personal time off.

To be used for employee hospitalization, or illness that results in an absence of more than 16 consecutive work hours.
