Supervisory Program Specialist

Duties

The duties include:

  • Primary source of the administrative advice to Chief Nurse, Geriatrics Extended Care.
  • Assist with decision-making processes in critical and emergent situations when the Chief Nurse, Geriatrics Extended Care is unavailable.
  • Analyze programmatic, fiscal, and administrative data to identify trends and accomplishments to make projections.
  • Apply analytical and evaluate techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems in order to improve the effectiveness of programs.
  • Review Geriatrics Extended Care center policies prior to publication for adherence to VA Headquarters.
  • Interpret directives and policies and carries out decisions made by the Chief Nurse and higher-level officials.
  • Manage and perform recruitment, onboarding, and personnel action processing for Title 38, Hybrid Title 38, and Title 5 staff, including preparing staffing documents, coordinating with Human Resources, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) certified liaison for procurement activities, including preparing procurement requests, monitoring contract performance, and tracking invoices and obligated funds.
  • Utilizing data analytics and advanced Excel functions (such as pivot tables, formulas, dashboards, and data validation) to compile performance metrics, evaluate operational workflows, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
  • Responsible for supervising administrative staff and assisting with efficient workflow.
  • Conduct and oversee Environment of Care Rounds while working with appropriate departments for facility maintenance.
  • Responsible for compiling responses for PATS-Rs, Congressional, Issue Briefs and ensuring timely submission.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00am - 04:30pm
