similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Desktop Support Supervisor for the Orange County Information Technology (OCIT) Shared Services will be a supervisor that will oversee a team of up to six (6) Desktop Support Specialists, providing support and maintaining a variety of application as well as analyzing service desk calls. This position requires strong technical knowledge and comprehension skills with written and oral communication experience. The Desktop Support Supervisor will be essential in providing technical support, troubleshooting, and training to end users and staff.
Responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supporting administrative operations and technical aspects of Orange County Information Technology, ensuring adherence to procedures and performance outcomes
- Serving as the designated administrator, researching and identifying system environment requirements and specifications
- Working collaboratively with Business Relationship Managers to determine and establish business needs across various County agencies
- Building and maintaining strong vendor relationships to meet emerging issues
- Coordinating and implementing administrative and technical safeguards as needed
- Ensuring appropriate security monitoring, mitigation, documentation, and auditing
- Maintaining and updating policies and procedures pertaining to system-related documentation
- Designing, analyzing, implementing, and providing ongoing maintenance of Operating System (OS) images, application packages, and software updates through Intune and SCCM
- Monitoring and supporting enterprise hardware from Dell and HP and Desktops/ laptops and Tablets from HP, Dell, and Microsoft
- Compiling data and preparing reports to evaluate systems effectiveness
- Implementing enterprise security best practices including encryption, implicit & explicit permissions, multi-factor authentication, auditing and digital forensics, data retention, including zero-touch, as well as patching
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess at least one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience and/or project management experience.
In addition, the ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in the following core competencies:
Technical Knowledge | Technical Experience
- Working with virtualization, cloud, and converged technologies, including VMWare
- Experience with Microsoft cloud services from 0365 and Azure virtualization
- Experience with complex automated Asset management solutions
- Having expertise related to Microsoft Windows 11 operating system
- Understanding and application of scripting languages, such as PowerShell
- Understanding and application of systems management software, such as Microsoft Configuration
- Understanding and application of Full Disk Encryption, VPN, and RDP solutions
- Utilizing Active Directory Domain Services
- Leading information technological projects to evaluate system effectiveness, monitor vendor performance, and make recommendations
- Preparing and maintaining documentation of department processes, procedures, and reports
- Analyzing and administering system improvements to maintain hardware and software systems
- Installing and providing support for Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, through Intune, and Apple DEP
- Extensive experience working with high performance platforms and managing/designing/maintaining advanced technologies
- Developing innovative and effective solutions for complex technical issues

- Planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing the work of team members, ensuring comprehensive services and coverage of computer hardware systems
- Leading performance evaluations, staff development, and training initiatives to enhance service delivery
- Working collaboratively and establishing rapport with staff, managers, and other public or private Agencies
- Selecting, training, leading and motivating high performance and results oriented teams
- Building and maintaining positive forward focused customer-oriented work environments

- Generating consensus and collaborative relationships to bring about efficient and effective outcome
Oral | Written Communication Skills
- Translating and developing technical findings into reports and documentation for both technical and non-technical staff at all levels within and outside the agency
- Communicating, coordinating, and collaborating with County agencies to ensure effective service delivery
- Soliciting feedback and adjusting customer requests to fit into business improvement
- Preparing and maintaining documentation of department processes and procedures

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT | BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Part of the selection process for positions within Orange County Information Technology (OCIT) requires that all candidates undergo an extensive background investigation process, to the satisfaction of the Department. Candidates must successfully clear prior to the start of their employment. All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Human Resource Services (HRS) will screen all application materials to identify qualified applicants. After screening, qualified applicants will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.

Applications and supplemental responses will be screened for qualifications that are highly desirable and most needed to successfully perform the duties of this job. Only those applicants that meet the qualifications as listed in the job bulletin will be referred to the next step.
Structured Oral Interview (Weighted 100%) The Structured Oral Interview is a timed assessment. Applicants will provide answers to job-related questions, which will be rated by a panel of subject matter experts using standardized evaluation criteria. Only the most qualified candidates will move advance to the next step in the recruitment process or will be placed on the eligible list.
Eligible List Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies. Based on the County's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.
