    POSITION/PROGRAM INFORMATION:
    The Department of Health Services (DHS) is implementing an Internal Registry Program at all DHS hospitals. The Internal Registry Program, utilizing relief nurses is designed to supplement the staffing needs of the facility as the needs arise maintaining continuity of care and quality patient care.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Provides direct patient care for patients that require specialty services and nursing care.
    • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care, delegation and coordination of nursing care and utilization of the nursing process as part of an interdisciplinary team.
    • Provides patient and family education.
    • Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients and as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
    • Performs work with integrity and in compliance with professional nursing practice standards, policies and procedures, respecting patients' privacy and confidentiality.


    Requirements

    SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

    1. One year of experience within the last five years, as a registered nurse providing acute direct
    patient care in a hospital.

    2. Current certification in accordance with the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support
    (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program.

    3. A license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered
    Nursing.

    PHYSICAL CLASS:
    Physical Class III - Moderate:
    Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

    The eligible register resulting from this examination will be used to fill vacancies throughout the Department of Health Services as they occur.

    ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
    Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.

    The names of candidates will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.

    No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
