    Job Summary
    Under general supervision, learns and performs work operating, maintaining, and repairing the City of Bryan’s Water Production Facilities including cooling towers, water wells, storage reservoirs, chlorination equipment, distribution pumps, electric motors, and related mechanical equipment.
    Essential Job Functions
    • Performs routine daily inspections of wells, pump stations, and disinfection facilities on assigned route; records various readings, pump run times, and other assigned performance parameters.
    • Tests and monitors the operation of various pumps, motors, and ancillary water production equipment/machinery; starts and exercises generators; checks fluid levels; performs Production System flushes.
    • Uses Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ( SCADA ) System to control equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, etc. to determine if the equipment is functioning properly.
    • Diagnoses operational and mechanical problems and makes repairs or performs preventative maintenance as needed.
    • Monitors and records facility operational data including pressures, tank levels, flow rates, and production; makes necessary adjustments to meet water supply quantity and quality.
    • Maintain accurate and complete logs, records, and files.
    • Inspects reservoirs, water levels, and telemetry; make adjustments to maintain proper water levels.
    • Makes emergency changes of equipment in the event of mechanical failures.
    • Reads and work from maps, blueprints, and sketches.
    • Read watt-hour meters, water production meters, and other devices.
    • Perform general maintenance and cleanup duties around water facilities.
    • Makes management immediately aware of major mechanical issues; initiates repairs as appropriate.
    • Cleans, services, and maintains assigned tools, machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
    • Ensures compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality ( TCEQ ) rules and regulations.
    • Ensures that all established safety precautions and practices are observed during the performance of work; wears proper safety gear.
    • Performs related duties as required.
    • Responds regularly and promptly to work.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED .
    • Must possess at least one (1) year of work experience performing maintenance and mechanical repairs to facilities, equipment, and/or machinery.

    Preferred:
    • Water experience and/or related certification.
    • Applicants familiar with SCADA systems and/or basic computer literacy.

    Equivalent combinations of related education, experience, certification, and training may also be considered.

    Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements
    • Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
    • Must possess a Class D Water License from TCEQ , or the ability to obtain the license within six (6) months of hire date. Must obtain a Class C Groundwater License from TCEQ within two (2) years of hire date. Licenses must be maintained during the course of employment.
    • Must successfully pass an annual pulmonary function test to determine the ability to function while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus ( SCBA ) during emergency operations.
    • Available for emergency response and shift work, to include on-call duties after hours, and on weekends and holidays.
