    DESCRIPTIONS OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    The Information Technology Division Technology Applications section of the Houston Airport System (HAS) provides technology systems and information that enhances the passenger experience and empowers the Houston Airports to meet its mission and vision.

    The IT Professional - Applications maintains and administers the Salesforce environment. This position performs user onboarding, helpdesk tickets, field creation, creates and updates flows, and creates reports and dashboards. The IT Professional - Applications learns the existing code, architecture and deployment process of HAS Salesforce Service Cloud and participates in the discussion and deployment of the Marketing Cloud. This position participates in the development and enhancement of Apex (classes and triggers), Lightning Components, and Visualforce to extend Salesforce in order to support business requirements. This position also builds data interfaces with other applications by developing custom REST/SOAP APIs and consuming REST/SOAP APIs. The IT Professional - Applications works closely with integration partner and vendor, participates in testing and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure quality of service. This position consults across multiple HAS teams and technology areas to resolve technical and design issues and contributes to troubleshooting, problem management, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation and integrates data from various back-end services and databases thru APIs or ETL. The IT Professional - Applications collaborates with business stakeholders and data engineers to understand business requirements and contributes to solution architecture and design (declarative/custom code, security, scalability, limits). The IT Professional - Applications takes responsibility for all phases of Software Development which involves requirement gathering, requirement analysis, design, development, implementation Integration & enhancements in SalesForce.com projects. This position provides technical consultation and acts as reference point to peers, other business areas, senior leadership and external customers. The IT Professional - Applications becomes an expert and thought leader in Salesforce development, administration and support and creates and maintains development and process documentation. This position contributes to all stages of a project from planning to deployment as a developer, an administrator and an architect and stays up to date with new technologies and uses that knowledge to help guide the projects they contribute to as well as overall team direction. "Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.

    The IT Professional - Applications duties include but are not limited to:

    SYSTEMS ANALYSIS & PROGRAMMING :
    Under general direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives based on user needs. Develops and tests moderately complex applications by applying knowledge of programming or database techniques and computer systems. Devises or modifies procedures to solve moderately complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Ensures effectiveness of applications by performing preventive maintenance work; applies patches; performs upgrades.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE: Provides technical assistance on moderately complex software issues. Serves as tier 2 support to resolve end-users problems. Evaluates user's requests for new or modified application features. Determines feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system and computer capabilities.


    ADMINISTRATION:
    Prepares technical support documentation to describe application development, configuration, logic, coding and corrections. Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements.

    TEAM EFFORT: Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and performing related responsibilities as needed.
    WORKING CONDITIONS
    The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. Operates a motor vehicle. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. Significant time spent using computer display, keyboard, and mouse. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field.

    Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable.

    Related professional Information Systems experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    At least five (5) years of technology experience supporting IT applications.

    A Master's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.

    LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
    None.

    PREFERENCES

    Preference will be given to applicants with 2+ years of experience working as a developer or admin in Salesforce, Salesforce Platform Developer I/II Certification, and solid knowledge and understanding of Salesforce application architecture, and development components such as Visual Force, SOQL, Apex Classes and Triggers, J Query, APIs, Process Builder, Approval process, etc. In-depth knowledge of the basic capabilities of the Salesforce platform and products (especially Marketing Cloud), including an understanding of the data model, integration capabilities, development and maintenance best practices is preferred.
